FAQs

Which Ferrari will I be driving?

Our flagship car is the Ferrari 360 Modena, and what a car it is. Introduced at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show, the 360 Modena was genuinely revolutionary when it launched, and it still turns heads (and earns double-takes) today.

What makes the Ferrari 360 Modena so special?

Where do we start? The 360 Modena was built on an all-aluminium space-frame chassis, a technology Ferrari developed in partnership with American aluminium specialists Alcoa. Compared to the steel chassis of its predecessor, the F355, the 360’s frame is 40% stiffer and 28% lighter. This means the car feels incredibly planted and communicative when you’re pushing it through corners on track.

Under that gorgeous glass rear deck sits a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 (the Tipo F131) revving all the way to 8,500 RPM and producing somewhere between 400 and 425 horsepower. The engine uses a flat-plane crankshaft (the same configuration found in Formula 1 cars), which is why it sounds completely unlike anything else on the road. When you open it up on the straight, you’ll understand immediately.

What sound does a Ferrari make?

We like to think of it as a glorious howl which comes down to the flat-plane crankshaft. Most V8 engines (think American muscle cars) use a cross-plane crank, which gives them that deep, burbling rumble. The Ferrari fires in a symmetrical left-right-left-right sequence, allowing it to rev faster and higher and produce that spine-tingling, high-pitched scream. It’s often described as the closest thing to a racing engine you’ll ever hear on a circuit. Fair warning: you will not stop smiling.

How does the mid-engine layout affect how the car drives?

With the engine sitting just behind the driver (but in front of the rear axle), the weight is centralised right in the heart of the car. This means the car changes direction incredibly quickly and willingly. The 360 runs a 43/57 front-to-rear weight split, which means it’s beautifully balanced through corners. You’ll notice it the moment you turn in, as it just goes where you point it.

What transmission does the Ferrari use?

The 360 Modena uses a 6-speed F1-style automated manual gearbox. This is a traditional clutch-and-gear setup, but the clutch and gear changes are handled by electrohydraulic actuators rather than your foot and hand. In Sport Mode, it can shift through gears in around 150 milliseconds, which is faster than any human can manage manually. For the experience, the car is typically set to an automatic performance mode so you can focus on the driving rather than the gear changes. You just steer, brake, and enjoy the performance.

Are Ferrari brakes good? Can I actually stop this thing?

Absolutely. The 360 Modena is fitted with ventilated, cross-drilled Brembo steel disc brakes. Under the guidance of your in-car instructor, you’ll learn proper braking technique: brake late, brake hard, and let the car do its thing.

How does the car perform at speed? Does it feel stable?

Very stable, and there’s clever engineering behind that. Ferrari’s engineers spent over 5,400 hours refining the 360’s aerodynamics. The car uses an underbody channel leading to a raised rear diffuser to generate downforce without a big, ugly wing on the back. At top speed, it’s producing around 180 kg of downforce. You’ll feel that planted, confident sensation, especially on the longer straights at Sandown.

What licence do I need?

All you need is a valid provisional or full car driver’s licence. International licences are fine too, as long as they haven’t expired.

Are there height or weight restrictions?

Yes. For safety reasons, drivers need to be between 152 cm and 194 cm tall, and the maximum weight is 130 kg. These limits exist to ensure you fit safely and comfortably in the race seat and harness.

What do I need to wear?

Long sleeve shirt and pants,  enclosed shoes are a must; sneakers are perfect. No thongs, heels, or chunky boots. You won’t be hot from your clothing; you’ll be sweating from excitement.

How long will the whole thing take?

Plan for around three to four hours for the full experience, even if your actual time on track is shorter. That includes registration, a group safety briefing, getting ready, and your laps on the circuit. Good things take time.

What happens if it rains?

Supercar experiences are weather-dependent, and safety always comes first. If conditions are dodgy, we may need to delay or reschedule. We strongly recommend calling our Weather Check Line on 0412 018 035 on the morning of your event. If we do need to cancel due to weather, you’ll receive a voucher valid for 12 months to rebook.

What packages are available?

We have options for every appetite, from a taste of Ferrari through to a full supercar showdown:

  • The Cavallo – 4 laps in the Ferrari 360 Modena: $360
  • The Rosso – 6 laps in the Ferrari 360 Modena: $460
  • The Imola – 5 laps in the Ferrari + 5 laps in the Lotus Elise: $740
  • The Monza – 4 laps each in a Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Lotus: $980

The multi-car packages are a brilliant way to feel the difference between the Ferrari’s high-revving Italian finesse, the Lamborghini’s V10 muscle, and the Lotus’s razor-sharp lightweight agility.

Will I have an instructor with me?

Yes, always. A professional in-car coach rides with you for every single lap. They’re there to help you drive get the most enjoyment out of your drive.. They’ll guide you through braking points, show you where the apex is on each corner, and keep you out of trouble. In a mid-engine car like the 360, smooth inputs are everything, and your instructor will make sure you’re getting the most out of every lap.
