In 2020, Hamish Ribarits won the competition to join Fastrack V8 Race as a Hot Laps driver for 2021. There’s no better way to practice and improve your skills with input from racing legends George Elliot and John Bowe, and get paid to give a thrill to Aussies on the best Supercar circuits.

Become a national V8 hot lap driver!

Get behind the wheel of a V8 racing car on all of the best supercar circuits to make everyone’s dreams come true. You’ll even be doing hot laps on the Mount Panorama Racing Circuit in Bathurst.

Craft your circuit driving skills with track time that every aspiring racer dreams of and be paid $500 dollars per day for about 45 weekend days for one year. That’s good extra income without needing your own car or to give up your regular work. All airfares, car rental, accommodation and meals will be paid for.

The Shootout, Elite Dinner and ‘The Red Jacket’

The 10 highest point scorers will attend the Sandown Top 10 Shootout, an all-expenses paid advanced race seminar in Melbourne for final interview and instruction. If your combined 3 lap average, is the fastest in the Shootout, you will be awarded a one-year contract as a professional V8 hot lap driver.

Not only do you get a half-day Fastrack V8 high performance driving experience, all Sandown Shootout participants are hosted by George Elliot at a VIP Dinner with V8 legend John Bowe. Each Shootout finalists also qualifies to receive from John Bowe ‘The Red Jacket’, the symbol of an Elite Performance Driver.

Here’s how it rolls…

On the day, you’ll be assigned a professional in-car coach for one-on-one briefing and tuition. Your coach will enhance your Practice session, then judge and score your Qualifier session, and take note of your improvement on track. Independently, a professional racing instructor will review and score your in-car telemetry and video.

The 10 highest point scorers will be invited to participate in the Sandown Shootout, a race driver seminar and final interview. Each will be given 3 solo high speed qualifying laps. If your combined 3 lap average is the fastest in the Shootout, you’ll be awarded a one-year contract as a professional V8 hot lap driver.

Terms & Conditions

To apply for this position, applicants will be required to consent to the possibility of being filmed for a reality television program.

Applicants must have a current Australian driver’s license.

Applicants who have worked as a driving instructor/coach either as a contractor or employee for Fastrack V8 Race Experience since 1st of January 2020 are NOT eligible to apply.

Applicants agree to acknowledge that the decision based on the judging criteria will be accepted as final.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a Motorsport Australia license.

Any additional extended training period will be supplied by Fastrack V8 Race Experience prior to the commencement of the contract.
